The Innergy Power Station™ is a portable power solution that converts sunlight from a 200 watt solar array into both AC and DC power to run a wide range of equipment and devices used in emergency rescue and recovery operations.
In the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, we learned much about the failures and shortcomings of our infrastructure around disaster response and recovery. Among the lessons learned was the false confidence we place in our grid power as a reliable and sustainable source of energy in the wake of a disaster. In addition, we learned that even back-up power systems, such as gas and diesel generators, were of no use once the fuel ran out, and could not be replaced. We are completely dependent on electrical power for our daily lives, but when disaster strikes, access to power can mean the difference between life and death. In the wake of disasters such as Katrina, 9/11 and the devastating tornadoes that destroy everything in their path, the need for electricity to power radios, computers, lights, GPS instruments and satellite communication systems is essential, and when the grid is damaged or destroyed, alternative energy solutions must be readily available, readily transportable, and entirely sustainable.
