FAQ's

What is the voltage of your cells?

All 5 of our ThinLine™ cells are 2 volts each.

How many different battery packs do you offer?

We can build a wide range of packs up to 20V and capacities up to 10Ah. With our thin form-factor we can provide various options to meet specific space restrictions. See examples of these on our ThinLine Batteries page.

What are the capacity ranges of your batteries?

We produce 5 cells with capacities of 2.0Ah, 2.5Ah, 3.2Ah, 4.0Ah and 5.0Ah. However, we can provide series, parallel packs with higher capacities (i.e. 10.0Ah ).

What is the impedance level of your cells?

The internal resistance ranges, depending on cell size, from 10 milliohms to 30 milliohms.

What OEM markets do you serve?

We serve a broad range of OEM markets including: cache memory back-up for computer storage applications, portable power for medical monitoring, auxiliary power for mobile computing, memory-effect free, extended run-time power for electronic games and thin, long-lasting power for portable lighting devices.

How many cell sizes do you offer and would you consider making larger or smaller cells?

We produce 5 cell sizes and could offer larger and smaller sizes if an OEM wanted to make the commitment needed to develop the tooling, etc. needed for these cells. Contact us at regarding your interest.

What is the maximum load your cells can handle?

Our cells can handle 1C very nicely and peaks up to 3C for short periods of time. Basically, our form factor provides long-lasting power in mid to low drain applications ranging from notebook computers and cell phones to medical monitoring devices, HPC's, and cache memory back-up for computer storage systems.

How long does it take to recharge your batteries?

We generally recommend 10-12 hours using an approved 2-stage charger. They can be fast-charged in 4-5 hours, with the proper charger but the trade-off is cycle life reduction.

Do you offer chargers and charging solutions for your batteries?

Yes, we can provide off-the-shelf or custom chargers to maximize the performance of our batteries. We can also provide specific charging schematics to aid in the design of OEM devices. Our charging considerations should be carefully followed by referring.

What are your key advantages over NiCd, NiMH and Li-Ion batteries?

We offer comparable watt hours per liter (wh/l) to NiCd and NiMh. We overcome the memory-effect problem with NiCd (our cells have zero memory effect) and we overcome the charge retention problem of NiMH (our cells retain 97% of charge after one month while NiMH retains only about 60%). We overcome the safety and cost issues of Li-Ion by providing a product proven safe, and our cost per watt hour is considerably lower than Li-Ion.

What is your cost per watt hour?

It ranges from around 50 cents to $2.00 depending upon pack components. This compares favorably to NiCd and NiMH in a completed battery pack and considerably under that of Li-Ion.

What is the chemistry of Innergy ThinLine® energy cells?

Our cells are a patented thin, sealed lead technology. We offer the great advantages of sealed-lead (zero memory effect, great charge retention, excellent float charge performance, 500-2,000 cycles and very cost competitive) without the bulk and weight of typical sealed-lead.

Do you build only cells or do you also offer total power solutions?

We build cells, battery packs and provide total power solutions, making it very simple for an OEM to have a total "drop-in" power solution.

Isn't sealed-lead an old technology and will it leak if I try to use it or charge it in an inverted position?

Although sealed lead is a time proven battery chemistry, it is still an extremely valuable and widely used battery technology. For automobiles and UPS systems, sealed-lead is considered to be the superior power solution. Innergy Power has taken sealed-lead's great attributes and designed them into thin (1/3 inch) cells that can be built into a wide range of battery packs and power solutions. They can be used and recharged in any position and there simply is no leakage issue since these are a non-spillable sealed-lead design. They also are not a gel cell, but have an absorptive glass mat separator (AGM) which retains the electrolyte.
