Scotts Valley, CA. July 11, 2001 - Innergy Power Corporation is the world's leading manufacturer
of thin rechargeable cells and batteries for OEM and consumer markets.
The cells and batteries are produced at Innergy Power's new, state
of the art manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico. These thin
cells are used in a variety of applications where form factor, zero
memory and long shelf life are critical. Innergy's batteries are
based on its patented ThinLine® planar-case design, combined with
thin-foil technology, to provide performance comparable to that
of Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries.
Dramatic
growth in requirements for portable products, as well as emergency back-up
power, has led to a need for a reliable, proven technology that is easily
recycled at end of life, competitive in cost, and compact in form factor.
Innergy's ThinLine® cells have attracted a broad base of support because
of their thin, flat form factor and the benefits of zero "memory effect";
low self-discharge rates; cost effectiveness; ease of recharging and recycling;
no ECU restrictions; reliability; safety and long life. The cells are
available in five different capacities (2Ah through 5Ah) to provide a
variety of power solutions in a broad range of applications. The sloping
discharge profile makes low cost fuel gauging possible. The simple charging
requirements help minimize the cost of charging solutions and there is
no need to account for memory effect. The use of an Absorptive Glass Matte
(AGM) separator and a resealable vent allow the cells to be used in any
orientation.
One area
where Innergy Power has seen dramatic growth is in the RAID storage market.
RAID storage has been fueled primarily by the growth in e-commerce. The
need for cache memory back-up in RAID storage systems where space is limited
and the battery solution needs to be on float charge presents a particular
dilemma for the RAID storage design engineer. A reliable, safe, long-lasting
product is needed. Among the many requirements that this product must
have are: minimal space allocation for the power solution, tolerance for
continuous float charge, tolerance for down charge time without loss of
capacity, simple field replacement, ease of recycling by the end user,
and mechanical reconfigurability for current and future design flexibility.
Innergy Power's ThinLine® cells have proven they can meet all of these
challenges in a manner superior to other available battery chemistries.
Innergy Power's
ThinLine® cells are available assembled into batteries in various configurations
to meet a wide range of needs for both OEM and consumer applications.
Markets supported include, but are not limited to, cache memory back-up
in RAID storage systems, medical monitoring equipment, infusion pumps,
portable lighting, electronic games, portable test and measurement equipment,
and auxiliary power for notebook PCs and hand held computers. For more
