Innergy Power Launches Emergency Preparedness Kit to Power Cell Phones, Laptop Computers and Two-Way Radios After Hurricanes, Earthquakes and Natural Disasters
SAN
DIEGO, California -- May 30, 2006 --
Innergy Power Corporation today announced its IP123EP Emergency Preparedness Kit to provide renewable, long-lasting emergency power for low voltage devices when regular electrical service has been interrupted after hurricanes, earthquakes and natural disasters. A high-capacity rechargeable battery with built-in solar charging comes packed in a rugged carrying case and provides power to cell phones, laptop PCs and two-way radios to support vital communications for both rescue personnel and survivors.
Before disaster strikes, the Emergency Preparedness Kit can be
kept on permanent wall charge so it is ready for immediate use
when a loss of power occurs. The Emergency Preparedness Kit's solar
charger provides power during extended power outages ranging from
several days up to several weeks.
Following Hurricane Katrina, rescue personnel and citizens relied
heavily upon gas-powered generators for emergency power. Unfortunately,
once their gas supply was exhausted, they found long lines at the
gas pumps and many could not secure additional fuel for days. Innergy
Power's Emergency Preparedness Kit is an alternative solution that
can meet many low voltage power needs in a uniquely packaged, portable
design with no need for gas-powered generators.
"Hurricane Katrina taught us many lessons and one of the most important
was the need for more reliable back-up power for communications," said
Darrell Musick, president and CEO of Innergy Power. "Our Emergency Preparedness
Kit is a renewable energy, rechargeable power solution that can provide back-up
power throughout the day or night."
The heart of the Emergency Preparedness Kit is Innergy Power's
12V, 8Ah Power Pack. The kit also includes a 12V wall charger for
permanent charging so the unit is ready when the power fails and
a detachable 12V DC plug to provide power to most portable 12V
devices. A 12V halogen light and a ballistic nylon carrying case
with room for additional emergency preparedness supplies round
out the kit.
The Power Pack can be recharged in multiple
ways depending upon the situation. In normal conditions, it can
be plugged into a wall outlet to insure that it’s fully
charged when needed. When power is not available from the electrical
grid, it can be recharged by the sun or from the DC outlet in
a car, truck or RV.
This combination of portability and multiple recharging options
makes it ideal for use in emergencies as well as for recreational
use in remote areas. Possible recreational uses include RV and
marine battery charging, cell phone battery charging, powering
portable DVD players and electronic games, and remote lighting.
This innovation in portable renewable power is made possible
by leveraging Innergy Power's position as a leading supplier of
thin rechargeable battery packs and their production of rugged
and portable solar panels.
